Lloyd (Pa) Benson, my great grandfather, was born on Grand Manan as were his parents before him. On May 12, 1912, he moved his wife and young family into their new two storey home located at 11 Benson Lane in Seal Cove.

The upstairs contains four bedrooms all decorated with the original furniture. One bedroom has a queen bed, two of the other rooms have one double each while the fourth has two single beds. Bed linens are provided. A deep closet was remodeled and now contains a 1/2 bath. A real plus.


The main floor consists of a living room, dining room, kitchen and full bath.
The large bright kitchen has seating for six at the table and a full size fridge, stove and microwave. The old style pantry is fully equipped with pots, pans, dishes, silverware, toaster and coffee pot. All the essentials and more. The converted bathroom boasts a deep old fashioned claw footed tub. Perfect for a long hot soak. Towels and facecloths are provided. A washer and dryer, situated in the basement, are available for guest use. A shower, down there as well, is ideal for washing off the sand when returning from the beach. There is an outside entrance to the basement in the backyard. Bikes and kayaks can easily be put under cover.

As the sun rises up over White Head Island in the morning enjoy its splendor from the sun porch. Watch, nestled up with your coffee, as the boats steam out of the harbour and head off for another day on the water. Relax. Unwind. Savour the quiet and the natural beauty of the land.
